Amazing little Douglas adopted!

Dear little mini lop Douglas adopted today by Hannah & Zac who toll home their new baby from The Rabbit Rescue Sanctiary in NSW. We delivered him to Byron Bay!! 

Second Queensland Rabbit Surrender Today

Ruby from Queensland sadly surrendered her little Netherland Dwarf rabbit today making the second QLD rabbit refuge to arrive at the Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary today. ICARUS will be available for adoption as a house rabbit after being Desexed and vaccinated this week by Dr Chris in Grafton. His new family will have to reside in NSW where rabbits are legal.  

Lop Rabbit Adopted

Hannah from Fingal Head adopted HERMAN the white lop rabbit with orange points as a friend for her little Netherland Dwarf rabbit who came down to visit the Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary to meet a new friend. After a bonding session both little rabbits happily went home together.

QLD COUNCIL RABBIT RAID RESULTS IN RABBIT SURRENDER

We welcome FRANKLIN to the Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary.  She found safety today after her Queensland owners were raided by the Brisbane City Council and were told to get her out of the state or she would be seized and destroyed. 

The photo shows her with her owners Irene and Kimberly. She will be Desexed and vaccinated this week by Dr Chris at www.riverbankvet.com.au and then available for adoption as a house rabbit.

Remember to have something that throws shade so your rabbit doesn't overheat. The rabbit enclosure shown in the photo has a big tree near it that throws shade in the hot afternoon sun. The wooden stand with roof also throws shade on the little blue rabbit kennel. The RabbitHouse has a mesh floor that is raised up off the ground allowing air to circulate within the kennel. Another way to create shade is to have fabric or plywood panels on parts of the playpen that throw shade at different times of the day. In this run the wooden house provides shade underneath from the midday sun.

Rabbit Homes

Rabbit  cages are out and rabbit homes are in. Set up a play area with secure, weatherproof housing and activities. Francis the mini lop rabbit shows you his setup in this video as an example. He has  an 18 panel playpen on a lawn with a stand he can hop up onto, stuffed toys, a plastic kennel, a HoundHouse RabbitHouse" and a tunnel.

Jasper is happy with his new chocolate fox otter rex rabbit "Rex" who is headed home to his new home in Coffs Harbour. His mum Christie was very happy with her savings as this bunny like our others comes Desexed, vaccinated with free pet carrier for only $25!

Dealing with knots in your pet rabbit's fur

Even short haired rabbits can have problems with knots or matting of their fur especially around their private parts.

When faced with knots the first point of call is to try to gently tease out the knot with your fingers.  Just pull gently on little bits of the knot at a time and pull the knot apart without pulling on the skin.

When grooming or knot pulling give your rabbit a rest between sessions as they normally don't like being held for too long especially if you are knot pulling!

Think twice before using scissors on a knot or mat.  Because the matted knot might be tightly knotted near the skin it is risky to cut with scissors as you stand a good chance of cutting away a chunk of flesh.

Welcome to George Bunny from Melbourne

Today we welcomed George rabbit from Melbourne who has come to The Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary. He can up by plane from Melbourne to NSW to be picked up by us at Grafton airport.  He is enjoying the fresh smell of the Australian Bush far from the hustle and bustle of city life in Melbourne.

Rabbits Adopted Today to Loving Home in Maclean NSW

We are pleased to announce that two cute rabbits that had been waiting for the right family were adopted today. Alex came to the Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary with her daughter Beth to adopt a bunny for her birthday. Beth went home with KEVIN MILKSHAKE and SMOKEY. Both rabbits went to their new homes Desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and a final worming and nail trim on departure. They also went

in a comet pet carrier which can later be reused for outings and their FREE VET CHECK at our rabbit vet in South Grafton Riverbank Vet. Happy bunnies, happy people. You too can adopt a rabbit.
