We also service other cities and towns with delivery. We use our volunteer rabbit transport for road and our rabbit flight courier to fly rabbits to their new homes.

Rabbit Foster Carers

Meet Kim Batey one of our Tweed Heads Foster Carers with house bunny RUTH on her lap.  

RUTH is a wonderful friendly house rabbit that uses her litter tray and will go out to the yard and come back inside.  She is a perfect bunny pet.

Rabbits VIOLET & Peter Rabbit have a loving new home in Casino NSW.
We encourage families to provide basket handling of bunnies as tiny children don't have the strength or dexterity to correctly lift and carry a rabbit. Many rabbits are dropped by little children and suffer severe injuries.

It is best to put bunnies on a table with baskets to sit in and children can brush them, stroke them, cuddle them and kiss them without getting scratched or bitten through poor handling.

Adults should always supervise children with their pet rabbits.

Rabbits and Children

If you are thinking of buying a rabbit for childen please consider that we expect the adult to have responsibility for the health and well being of the rabbit.  Children can certainly bring and prepare foods and water for the rabbit but the parent must supervise and check to ensure that the rabbit will be safe, comfortable and have the correct amount of each type of food and plenty of fresh cool, clean water available as well as shade and room to run if outside and good ventilation if left inside.

SQUISH HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

SQUISH is a very friendly orange rabbit boy up for adoption to a good home. He is 9 months old.

He arrived from Sydney surrendered by his owners who said their lifestyle had become too busy with work and travel to give him the attention he deserves.  

SQUISH has found a little bunny girl friend at The Rabbit Sanctuary called PANSY who is very timid but loves cuddles. We would like them to be adopted together.  What a gorgeous pair of bunny pets you would have. He gets on very well with other rabbits too so if you want a Desexed male rabbit friend for your girl rabbit he would be great.

We provide ongoing support for you and your adopted rabbits. 

You can phone, text or email us anytime for advice.

The rabbits we offer for adoption as pet rabbits are tame and friendly.
We also offer 'Garden Bunnies' which are rabbits that love you to watch them and will come for treats but do not like being picked up.  If you have a secure back yard you can have a kennel for them and they will hop around in your yard happily and bring you much delight.
It is nice to adopt a pet as you know you are helping an abandoned rabbit start a new life.

DAVY is the nicest little bunny you would come across. He is tame and cuddly and loves attention. He is a very small bunny. His adoption fee is $25 and he comes desexed and vaccinated.

DAVY is currently in foster care at Tweed Heads. He can be delivered to most places including:

We are hoping that some of the giant white rabbits rescued from a research lab will get good homes this week.

If you are looking for a giant rabbit then one of the 7 Research Lab rabbits would make you a great pet. They need a big yard and love getting up on their rabbit tree house or the roof of a hutch.

They had lived their lives up to coming to The Rabbit Sanctuary in steel cages with artificial light and air conditioning. Now they can be free to smell the air and experience wind and rain and sunlight and friendship with other bunnies and people.

The dear little bunnies in the photo below is of VIOLET & her baby boy bunny.
She is a Netherland Dwarf cross bunny rabbit and her baby rabbit PETER BUNNY is too.
We are looking for a home for these two rabbits where they will be kept as part of a family. As family members with an indoor playpen for evenings and nights and an outdoor hutch and 16 panel playpen for days on the grass.

Linsay sheds tears as she prepares to leave 'Thumper' 

Another very sad Queenslander parts with a bunny she rescued in that state. It is amazing how attached people get to rabbits even when they have had them only a short time.

Linsay and her partner James rescued this beautiful rabbit and cared for her until they found out about The Rabbit Sanctuary and brought her down. Once her vet work is done she will be available for adoption. She is very tame and friendly. Her coat colour is sable with a broken pattern.
