We need links!

The Rabbit Sanctuary are asking people to add a link to their websites or blogs or facebook etc. to our blog to help us spread the word out there to help rabbits. With the rabbit myxomatosis season starting again we must get lots of rabbits adopted into new indoor homes.

How do you know if a product is really cruelty-free?
Since no government regulation exists for cruelty-free labeling of personal care and household products, companies can essentially make any animal testing claims they want. So how is the conscientious consumer able to discern which products are truly cruelty-free? Choose Cruelty Free Australia was created to provide consumers with the most accurate information possible about a company's no-animal testing policy.
To become Choose Cruelty Free (CCF) accredited, a company must agree not to conduct or commission animal testing of any kind after a fixed cut-off date. In addition, the company must get all third-party manufacturers and suppliers to individually agree not to engage in animal testing for its products. The Cruelty Free Shop carries a wide assortment of products from CCF accredited companies including MyUtopia, Pure Gaisha, Alba Botanics, RJ Mineral Cosmetics, Nat io and Biologika.
CCF has made it easy to shop without cruelty. To make sure the products you use are genuinely cruelty-free see the list of companies accredited in Australia visit www.choosecrueltyfree.org.au.

Charity of the Month
Banjo is one of 36 turkeys who will not be turning up on a table this Christmas; Banjo was rescued from the horrors of intensive farming by caring people who took him straight to the safety of A Poultry Place Animal Sanctuary. Banjo’s new life of waking up on a bed of straw and spending the morning on a grassy field before retreating to the shade of fruit trees to nap as the day warms up is a far cry from the windowless shed he came from. That shed denied him the freedom to do any of the things that come naturally to him and his mates, like dust-bathing, running, flapping his wings and dancing.
Despite his luck, Banjo still bears the scars of having been a factory farmed turkey. Part of his beak has been cut off and will never grow back; he has a slowly healing wound on his right shoulder where his brothers and sisters walked over him in the crowded shed to get food and his infant skeleton struggles to support his 13kg body weight. Despite his handicaps Banjo will enjoy a much longer life than the 12 weeks he would have lived in a factory farm before being slaughtered for someone’s Christmas dinner.
A Poultry Place is an animal sanctuary in Southern NSW that specialises in the care of our feathered friends run by ex-Animal Liberation director Bede. Bede provides a home for over 250 rescued and abandoned turkeys, geese, peacocks, ducks, ex-battery hens, rescued broilers and roosters, along with several sheep, goats and cats. A Poultry Place receives no government funding and is reliant on donations to continue their wonderful work for animals. Please consider adding a donation to your next Cruelty Free Shop order for Ban jo and A Poultry Place.

Smoochie is looking for a loving home ADOPTED! YIPPEE!

Henry - Mini Lop PurebredADOPTED! YIPPEE! Click to see who got Henry!
Sooty Fawn colour - Desexed Male - 2 years old - Must go to a home where he will be a house rabbit. Very clean rabbit with good nature. He uses his litter tray perfectly with no mistakes.
HENRY - MINI LOP PUREBRED HOUSE TRAINED FRIENDLY

Spicy - Dwarf size up eared rabbit - Himalayan colour white with smokey grey tips - Male 4 months old. Litter tray trained. Would make a nice indoor rabbit with day cage to eat grass.

60 other rabbits available. Please enquire as not enough space here to list them all.

We Welcome Henry to The Rabbit Sanctuary

Henry joined us at The Rabbit Sanctuary on Sunday when he was sadly surrendered by his mother Carla who was worried for his safety due to extensive house renovations and her being at university much of the time.

Henry is a perfectly trained House Rabbit. He would only be rehomed to a loving person who would include him into their family home.

He is a desexed male purebred mini lop rabbit. On arrival at The Rabbit Sanctuary he was vaccinated against Calici virus.

Anyone who thinks they could give a suitable home to Henry should contact us by email or phone or text.

Henry uses his litter tray. He has not made even one mistake since he arrived. A very clean rabbit. He rushes to the door when he sees someone coming looking for a pat.

Give us a call if you would like to give Henry a home. He will only be alowed to go to the right type of setting, not a hutch in a backyard.

A New Section to the Big Rabbit Run! Hooray!

Thankfully all the heavy rain is over.

We have added a new section to the Big Rabbit Run which the rabbits are beginning to explore with great excitement.

A big thank you to Raj and Neha for making that possible. It is named Noddy & Pepper's section.
