This week, Julia takes us through some of her favourite moments as a Foster Carer. Julia describes fostering as one of the ‘greatest gifts’ that has come into her life, and hopes to show you why.
This week Foster Carer Carmel from the South Coast shares some insights into her fostering journey. She became a foster carer after adopting her own bunny from The Rabbit Sanctuary. Through the adoption process she had direct contact with her bunny's Foster Carer, and realised what a pivotal role Foster Carers have in the whole rehabilitation and rehoming process of The Rabbit Sanctuary bunnies.
This weeks video features Gertraud, who is not a regular Foster Carer, but rather an Emergency Foster Carer. This means she takes on bunnies at very short notices, generally for shorter periods of time from about 2 days to 4 weeks.
Foster Carer Caroline has been fostering for The Rabbit Sanctuary for almost two years and also volunteers for us doing graphic design work, such as the 2022 calendar and the first slide in this video! Caroline has adopted, two of the bunnies she’s fostered, Bim and Bambi, both featured in this video.
This week Foster Carer Fyfe shares her experiences with Zlatko - her foster bunny turned ‘foster fail’, finding his forever home with Fyfe. Foster failing is a commonly used term for when someone adopts their foster bunny.
New foster carer Kirrilee joins us this week and gives some insights into her first two weeks fostering for The Rabbit Sanctuary, which she has really enjoyed. Bunny Martell, featured in this video, has just been adopted and Kirrilee has taken another bunny home from The Rabbit Sanctuary to foster.
Kelly tells us what fostering is like for her - the highs and the lows. She highlights the value of belonging to a caring community group rescuing abandoned pet rabbits.

Introducing ⭐️Foster Carer Priyanka Based in Sydney NSW
Priyanka shares her experiences of fostering for The Rabbit Sanctuary for almost five years! She has fostered many rescue rabbits and still hears from many of their adopters. She says that seeing all her past fosters living happy lives with their new families makes it all worth it. Priyanka also mentions that it’s been amazing to see the growth in the numbers of bunnies The Rabbit Sanctuary can take in, all thanks to the help of Foster Carers!
Introducing ⭐️Foster Carer Mel Based in Lismore NSW
Whilst visiting The Rabbit Sanctuary, we were lucky enough to interview ⭐️ Foster Carer Mel who shared her fostering experiences. Mel fosters up to 5 rabbits at once and says it’s been an amazing experience, not only for herself but also her whole family. She’s found that fostering has been great to teach her children responsibility and kindness to animals. Mel has also helped the sanctuary through bunny boarding and being a Bunny Runner!
