Lismore Rabbits for Adoption

The Rabbit Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and rehomed rabbits in Lismore, NSW. We take in abandoned, stray and injured rabbits all along the north coast of NSW. 

When a rabbit is rescued in the Lismore area we firstly take him or her to the vet for a health check. Our vet attends to any injuries or illnesses. Once the bunny is stable our vet vaccinated, microchips, desexes and parasite treats the bunny. 

When the rescue rabbit is eating well and in good condition he or she is available for adoption. 

We only rehome our rescue bunnies to indoor homes where they can be part of a family.

 If you live in any of the towns below, you are within easy driving distance of The Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary. If you live in Sydney or Melbourne or other places we can deliver your rabbits.  We can discuss your needs re your pet rabbits and send you photos by email or sms.

 If you are in one of the above areas you can make an appointment to visit us and view the rabbits first hand.  Coming to the Rabbit Sanctuary is an enjoyable experience and we welcome children.  We have a rabbit petting table around which the children and parents can sit and pat tame friendly pet rabbits and learn lots about how to interact with rabbits.  Friday from 3pm to 6pm is our open day. Please let us know by phone or text to 0416062947 if you are coming. We will prepare a rabbit care and information pack to give you for free.  That is part of our rabbit care education service.

If you live in Tweed Heads or around there you can visit our bunnies in Foster Care at Bilambil Heights. It is not far from Byron Bay or Lennox Head, Ballina or even Lismore. Have a look at our rabbits for adoption below. There are mini lop rabbits, netherland dwarf rabbits, white, black, tan, brown, orange, all colours, shapes and sizes, males and females or we prefer to say girls and boys. BEAU A beautiful mini lop boy for adoption 1.8kg Tri-colour with great personality. He loves to run and play and he loves attention and is a real sookie baby that loves cuddles. House trained to use a litter tray.

BEAU is adorable. He is good with children. He puts his face down to get head scratches.

KISSIE KISSIE BUNNY 🐰💋🐰 has two kissing bunnies on her nose! Amazing kissing bunnies pattern on her dear little face. What a charming little girl bunny! 

She is up for adoption to an approved home. Apply on our form on the drop down menu. 

She is available for viewing at Tweed Heads and we can deliver to other locations. She has just been bonded with THEODORE who is a tiny Netherland Dwarf type boy. 

Available by donation of your choice that you can afford and want to contribute to our rabbit rescue work. 

FLOSS is a dwarf mini lop who loves to be around people. He is a house rabbit and uses his litter tray. He comes up to you and is great with children. We are looking for an indoor home for him where he will be part of a family.

Many people think pet shop when they think of baby rabbits for sale. Not everyone in Grafton knows about The Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary where abandoned pet rabbits come in from all forms of abandonment including vets, council pounds, animal shelters, RSPCA, lost and found rabbits etc.

Local Grafton residents are coming to know about The Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary in Rushforth via South Grafton. There are always between 50 and 80 rescued pet rabbits in residence awaiting loving homes.

Most of our rescue rabbits fly to Sydney or Melbourne or other places like Taree, Port Macquarie and other regional towns.

Local adoptions tend to be in Yamba, Maclean, Iluka, Couttes Crossing or Nymboida.

We encourage people to set up playpens in their homes so the bunnies can be part of the family.

To have your rabbit in the house with you the first thing you need is a nice LITTER TRAY.
The photos below show a big litter tray with Rufus and Coco Premium Pet Bedding to soak up liquid covered with edible premium quality lucerne hay. The hay encourages the bunny to sit on his litter tray more and also stops any inclination to dig in the litter. The bedding is the best on the market and can be purchased online. Just Google it:) Put extra edible premium hay on the side for munching. By feeding hay on or above the litter tray your rabbit will spend more time on it and use it more.

We have lop rabbits, up-eared rabbits, in fact we have so many types of rabbit there is a good variety for folk to pick from for their new adopted rabbit pet.  Rabbits can be delivered to new homes by pet transport.

We use Coates Pet Transport and dog movers.  By adopting a rabbit you get added value such as a vaccinated and desexed rabbit that has been wormed and is lice free as well as vet checked!
